Practical Training in Liquid Soap and Smearing Jelly Production at Angole Primary School

A hands-on training session on the production of liquid soap and smearing jelly was recently held at Angole Primary School, with a total of 1,350 attendees. The session commenced with an introduction to the materials and equipment needed for both products.

For liquid soap, the following materials were used:

  • ½ kg Sulfuric acid
  • 1 kg Ungalo
  • 1 kg Salt
  • 2 kg Caustic soda
  • 2 ml Urea
  • 2 ml Sodium tripolyphosphate
  • 1 ml Coloring agent
  • 1 small bottle of Perfume
  • 1 liter of Water

For smearing jelly, the ingredients included:

  • Jelly base
  • White oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Aloe vera
  • Citronella
  • Perfume
  • Coloring agent

The trainers explained the specific measurements for each ingredient and introduced the relevant equipment. Pupils were guided step-by-step through the entire process, with a strong emphasis on safety measures, such as the use of gloves and face masks during preparation.

The session featured a practical demonstration, during which both pupils and teachers took part in identifying, measuring, and mixing the ingredients until the final products were ready. The training was interactive, with opportunities for participants to ask questions and reinforce their understanding.

The chairperson of the school management committee attended and encouraged the learners to use their newfound skills to support themselves and help their families, particularly siblings who are not currently enrolled in school.

By the end of the session, participants had successfully produced approximately 40 liters of liquid soap and over 100 bottles of smearing jelly. These were distributed for use by the pupils and teachers, promoting hygiene while fostering self-reliance through practical skill development.
